What qualifies as a dental emergency?

A dental emergency typically qualifies as three different things. First being, if you are in pain that is lingering, it's not going away, and that pain is making you change what you're doing in your life, chewing, biting, eating, you need to be seen by a dental professional.

What should you do if you experience swelling in the mouth?

Second, if you are having any sort of swelling in the mouth, whether it's draining inside or outside, causing a bad taste, swelling is something that we need to take seriously, and you need to seek the help of a dental professional.

What about chipped or broken teeth?

Lastly, I talk about chipped, broken teeth, maybe a hole in the tooth, or a broken restoration that you may have had previously done. These things, the sooner we act, the easier the process is for the patient, but also can be very important in saving you from extra dental procedures. That is another one where I say it is great to see you as soon as possible, categorizing it as a dental emergency.
