A dental crown is a tooth-shaped “cap” that is placed over the visible portion of a tooth to restore its shape and size, strength, and improve its appearance. It effectively acts as the tooth’s new outer surface.
Crowns are typically needed when a tooth is past the stage of needing a filling to repair, due to it being overly broken or severely decayed. Like veneers, crowns come in various materials but porcelain is the most popular because of the many similarities it shares to a natural tooth.
How it’s done
The first visit to Atlanta Smiles for your dental crown will involve either Dr. Stan Eisenberg or Dr. Cindy Bogdanoff reshaping your tooth and taking impressions of it to create your crown. This impression is sent to our trust dental laboratory to be made into your new, permanent crown. While your crown is being made, our team at Atlanta Smiles will provide you with a temporary crown to be replaced at your next visit.
At your second visit, Dr. Stan Eisenberg or Dr. Cindy Bogdanoff will have received your permanent crown from our laboratory. Before permanently cementing, we’ll make sure you are completely comfortable with the look, feel, and color of your new crown!
That’s it! It just takes two visits to completely transform your tooth. Have any questions? Give Dr. Stan Eisenberg, Dr. Cindy Bogdanoff, or any of our team at Atlanta Smiles a call at (252) 651-4419 or check out our appointment page here.
